Are you a a highly organized and experienced Woodshop Manager, who will lead the daily operations of the in-house woodshop. This is a permanent position suited to someone with a strong background in millwork, team leadership, and workshop management, being responsible for overseeing production schedules, maintaining equipment, ensuring health and safety compliance, and delivering high-quality craftsmanship that meets project specifications and deadlines.

The Role Of Woodshop Manager

As Woodshop Manager, you will:

  • ​​Overseeing the daily operations of the woodshop, ensuring smooth workflow and productivity.
  • Recording daily progress and managing jobwork contracts for each project and team member.
  • Setting clear daily goals for the woodshop team and providing regular performance updates.
  • Planning and scheduling millwork projects to meet deadlines and client expectations.
  • Organizing and maintaining tools, equipment, and materials to support efficient operations.
  • Enforcing health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Training staff on proper use of woodworking tools and machinery.
  • Delegating tasks effectively and monitoring team performance for quality and efficiency.
  • Reviewing completed work to ensure accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
  • Ensuring all woodwork meets high standards of craftsmanship and finish.
  • Managing inventory levels, tracking material usage, and controlling waste to stay within budget.
  • Creating and maintaining a schedule for equipment servicing and repairs.
  • Interpreting technical drawings and project requirements to guide production.
  • Communicating with management, clients, and designers to align on project goals and expectations.
  • Providing regular updates on millwork order status and ensuring timely delivery of finished products.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience managing a woodshop or millwork facility.
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking tools, machinery, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
  • Skilled in planning, scheduling, and coordinating multiple projects.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized workshop environment.
  • Experience training staff on equipment use and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Ability to manage inventory, track material usage, and control waste.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, designers, and internal teams.
  • Familiarity with maintenance planning for woodworking equipment.
  • Budget-conscious with the ability to manage costs and meet deadlines.
